Subscreen not opening

Seriously, the worst timing! My jeep wagoneer;s subscreen under the main display just decided it's not opening anymore. Push the button, and it just flickers off and back on won't budge. And to make things even more fun, my son's prescription glasses are trapped inside! I'm freaking out. Is there some secret way to force it open or bypass the motor? The radio reset didn't do anything. I'm thinking I might have to take the whole center console apart, which sounds like a nightmare. Does anyone know how to do that without breaking anything? I'm desperate to get those glasses back!

Have you tried pressing the button and giving the screen a little push at the same time?
