If you don't intend to use your Jeep for serious off-roading, gear ratio isn't as important. The Wagoneer has enough torque to handle towing. Either 3.92 or 3.21 gear ratio would be enough.

+1 for @WorldClassDBag always consider how you'll be driving to make the most out of your car. Since you're friend is driving with family, then cruising easy is recommended at 3.21 ratio.
